If you have been keeping up with me on Instagram, you’ll know that I’ve been trying to keep on my fitness game lately. My trainer has me sprinting, squatting, stepping and doing other exercises to catch that burn. And while the 4 weeks or so of sessions have been motivating, I’ve been looking for new things to take on so that I can expand beyond our sessions.
So when the email popped up within my inbox that Revelry Indoor Cycling & Fitness was opening up in San Mateo, I decided to #revitup and have a go at my first cycling class.
Ruth Ann and her staff were incredibly welcoming into the studio, which was comforting because we know anything that involves your first time can be intimidating. Your first time is also better if you bring a friend, so I had Vanessa waiting there for me as I arrived…cutting it close to the “arrive 15 minutes before your class” instruction that they advise you when you sign up for the class.
Sequin (one of Vanessa’s nicknames), who was there before me gave me some orders that were strict: grab some shoes, make sure you have water, stash your stuff in a locker and then get ready to ride.
Our instructor, Stephanie was amazing and made the first class so approachable. There were also some other members of the Revelry staff in there, in case you have something occur during the ride that needs attention. There were parts of the ride where I looked over at Vanessa sweating sequins and Skinnygirl and I didn’t know if we would make it. But we did. Because like Britney said, you better work bitch.
This day was a crazy day because I ended up seeing my trainer after. My double leg day was like listening to Adele through a break-up, I thought I might die. Revelry was a great start to the weekend and already looking for opportunities to come back! Perhaps, I’ll try their other class sometime…
